My Approach to Therapy

In my work with individuals, couples and families, I use Emotionally Focused Therapy (EFT) which draws upon the principles of attachment and it is well known for its effectiveness in healing relationships.

When working with couples in particular, I primarily use Emotionally Focused Therapy (EFT) founded by Drs. Sue Johnson and Les Greenberg.

EFT is a research-based approach to couples that seeks to create a sense of connection between partners.   It is informed by the theory of attachment. Specifically, the goal of EFT is to help partners feel securely connected by fostering feelings of safety, accessibility and responsiveness.

Studies have shown that 70-75% of couples move from distress to recovery and approximately 90% show significant improvement in their relationship.

When working with individuals and families, I often draw on the principles of attachment to gain a better understanding of individual concerns and family issues.

Emotionally Focused Family Therapy (EFFT) emphasizes nurturance and connection between family members in order to create and further maintain secure bonds.  For further details, please see my page on Family Therapy.
